What dose of Magic mouthwash should I use?
Short answer
Use Magic mouthwash only at the dose on your prescription label and as directed by your prescribing physician. Typical directions are to swish 5–10 mL for 1 minute and spit, every 4–6 hours as needed. Your prescribed dose may differ. Do not increase the amount or frequency yourself.
Your prescribing physician and pharmacy label set your dose of Magic mouthwash. The typical directions listed for this product are to swish 5–10 mL for 1 minute and spit, every 4–6 hours as needed. These directions are not a personal dosing plan. If your label differs, follow the label. Ask your physician or pharmacist about anything that is unclear before using it.
Use a marked medicine cup or oral syringe to measure each dose. Do not use a kitchen spoon. Do not swallow the rinse, take extra doses, or shorten the time between doses. Too much lidocaine can cause serious harm, especially if swallowed.
This rinse contains lidocaine, diphenhydramine, and magnesium-aluminum hydroxide. A licensed physician in your state decides whether it is appropriate for you. Compounded medications are prepared by a licensed pharmacy for one patient and are not FDA-approved. Keep your prescription for your own use, and never share it with another person.
