How should I store my compounded Magic mouthwash?
Short answer
Store Magic mouthwash exactly as the pharmacy label directs. Storage needs and the beyond-use date depend on the compounded formula. Do not assume it needs refrigeration or that it can be frozen. Keep it tightly closed, out of children’s reach, and discard it after the labeled beyond-use date.
The pharmacy label is your main guide for storing Magic mouthwash. Compounded formulas can have different storage needs, so there is no single rule that fits every bottle. Follow the listed temperature, light protection, and any refrigeration instructions. Do not refrigerate or freeze it unless the pharmacy directs you to do so.
Keep the rinse in its original, labeled container with the cap tightly closed. Store it out of sight and reach of children and pets, preferably in a locked place. Do not transfer it into a drink bottle or leave it near food. Avoid heat and moisture unless the label says otherwise.
Use the bottle only through its labeled beyond-use date. This date may differ from the expiration dates of its ingredients. Ask the dispensing pharmacist what to do if the rinse changes color, smell, or texture, or was left at the wrong temperature. Do not guess whether it is still usable. Ask the pharmacy how to dispose of unused rinse safely.
