How do I inject Zepbound vials safely at home?
Short answer
Inject Zepbound vials under the skin once weekly, exactly as your prescribing physician and the label direct. A vial requires a separate needle and syringe. Ask your care team to show you how to measure and inject your dose before your first use. Never share needles, syringes, or vials.
Use Zepbound vials only after you understand the instructions supplied with your medication. Your prescriber or pharmacist should confirm the correct syringe, needle, and amount to draw up. Do not assume that syringe markings equal milligrams. Follow your prescription and the label for your exact vial strength.
Wash your hands and prepare a clean surface. Check the vial’s name, strength, expiration date, and appearance. Do not use medication that is cloudy, has particles, or looks different from the label’s description. Clean the vial stopper and injection site as directed. Use a new sterile needle and syringe for each injection.
Inject under the skin of your stomach or thigh. Another person can inject the back of your upper arm. Rotate injection sites each week. Do not inject into a vein or muscle. You may inject with or without food.
Each single-dose vial is for one use. Discard any remaining medicine. Place used needles and syringes in a sharps container right away. Ask your pharmacist about safe local disposal.
