Sleep · FAQ
Can I stop the Home sleep test early if I cannot sleep?
Short answer
You can remove the Home sleep test if it causes pain or you cannot safely keep wearing it. Stopping early may leave too little data for review. Follow the device label and contact your prescribing physician for next steps. Do not restart or reuse the disposable device unless specifically instructed.
The Home sleep test is a test, not a medicine, so stopping it does not require a taper. However, removing it early may leave an incomplete recording. Follow your prescribing physician’s directions and the device label about how long to wear it and how to end the recording.
If you are simply awake for part of the night, check the instructions before removing the equipment. Some time awake does not automatically mean the entire test has failed. If a sensor causes pain, numbness, or significant skin irritation, remove the affected part and seek guidance. Call 911 for severe breathing trouble, chest pain, or other emergency symptoms rather than relying on the device.
Tell the care team when you stopped and what happened. Keep the device until you have followed the data submission and disposal instructions. Your physician will decide whether the recording can be used or whether you need another test. Do not assume that a replacement test is included in the purchase.
