What side effects can tadalafil cause, and which need urgent care?
Short answer
Tadalafil can cause headache, indigestion, flushing, a stuffy nose, back pain, or muscle aches. Seek emergency care for an erection lasting more than four hours, chest pain, or a severe allergic reaction. Stop tadalafil and seek urgent medical care for sudden vision loss or a sudden decrease or loss of hearing.
Common tadalafil side effects include headache, indigestion, flushing, a stuffy nose, back pain, and muscle aches. Not everyone has these effects. Tell your prescriber if symptoms bother you, keep returning, or interfere with daily activities. Do not adjust the dose or add medicines to manage symptoms without checking for interactions.
An erection lasting more than four hours needs emergency care, even without pain. Waiting can lead to permanent injury. Sudden vision loss or a sudden decrease or loss of hearing also needs urgent medical attention. Stop taking tadalafil and seek care right away if either occurs.
Call 911 for chest pain, fainting with severe symptoms, trouble breathing, or swelling of the face or throat. If you have chest pain, do not take nitroglycerin yourself. Tell emergency staff when you last took tadalafil.
This is not a complete list of possible side effects. Read the patient information that comes with your medicine and ask your pharmacist about any new symptom you notice.
