How should I store my compounded Rosacea cream?
Short answer
Store Rosacea cream exactly as the pharmacy label directs. Keep it in its original container, closed securely and away from children and pets. Do not refrigerate or freeze it unless instructed. Follow the pharmacy’s beyond-use date, and ask the pharmacist about any heat exposure or changes in the cream.
The pharmacy label gives the storage instructions for your specific compounded cream. Follow those directions rather than assuming that every skin cream has the same needs. Keep the container securely closed and in its original packaging so the instructions and date remain available. Store it where children and pets cannot reach it.
Avoid leaving the cream in a hot car, in direct sunlight, or near a heat source. Do not refrigerate or freeze it unless the pharmacy directs you to. If the label does not clearly state storage conditions, contact the dispensing pharmacist before choosing a storage spot.
Compounded prescriptions have a beyond-use date assigned by the pharmacy. Do not use the cream after that date unless the pharmacy provides specific guidance. Ask the pharmacist what to do if the cream changes color, smell, or texture, separates, or arrives with a damaged container. If it was exposed to unusual heat or cold during shipping, describe the situation to the pharmacy rather than guessing whether it is still suitable to use.
