Can I use Rosacea cream with other medicines or skin care products?

Short answer

Have your physician review your medicines and skin care products before using Rosacea cream. Other topical treatments, exfoliating acids, retinoids, or harsh cleansers may add irritation. Share prescription drugs, over-the-counter products, and supplements, including blood thinners. Do not combine or layer prescription skin treatments unless your physician gives clear directions.

Give your physician a full list of what you take and what you put on your skin. Include prescriptions, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, supplements, and products used only sometimes. Tell them if you take warfarin or another blood thinner. They can assess whether any precautions are needed with this topical metronidazole and ivermectin formula.

Skin products can cause problems even when they are not prescription medicines. Retinoids, exfoliating acids, scrubs, and drying cleansers may add burning or irritation. Other rosacea or acne treatments may also overlap with your new prescription. Do not assume that using more products will improve your skin faster. Results vary.

Ask your physician which products to keep, pause, or use at a different time. Follow their plan and the pharmacy label rather than mixing treatments yourself. A pharmacist can also check the cream’s added ingredients for possible allergens. If you start a new medicine or skin product after beginning treatment, let your care team know before changing your routine.
