How do I use the Auto-CPAP program each night?
Short answer
Use the Auto-CPAP program nightly, following your physician’s directions and the device label. Connect the tubing, fit the mask, and start the machine as instructed. It adjusts air pressure within your prescribed limits. Ask the care team for help with leaks, discomfort, cleaning, or setup before changing any settings.
Follow your prescribing physician’s directions and the instructions that come with your exact device. Place the machine on a stable, dry surface with its air intake clear. Connect the tubing and mask as shown in the setup guide. Check that the tubing is not bent or blocked.
If your device has a humidifier, use the water type and fill level listed by the manufacturer. Fit the mask so it seals without being painfully tight. Start the machine and check for air leaks. The device adjusts pressure within the limits set by your physician.
Use it nightly for the sleep periods your physician recommends. Do not cover the machine or block the mask’s vents. Clean the mask, tubing, and water chamber on the schedule in the manufacturer’s instructions. Let washable parts dry as directed.
Coaching can help you learn the routine and discuss comfort concerns. Contact the care team if you cannot get a good seal or keep the mask on. Do not change prescribed pressure settings yourself.
