Which medicines or substances can interact with Sildenafil 50 mg?
Short answer
Do not take Sildenafil with nitrates, recreational nitrites called poppers, or riociguat. These combinations can dangerously lower blood pressure. Other erection medicines, some blood pressure medicines, and certain antibiotics, antifungals, or HIV medicines can also interact. Give your physician and pharmacist a full list before taking your first dose.
Sildenafil must not be combined with nitrates, such as nitroglycerin or isosorbide, or recreational nitrites called poppers. It must also not be taken with riociguat. These combinations can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure. Tell your physician if you use any of them, even only once in a while.
Alpha blockers and other blood pressure medicines may increase the risk of dizziness, fainting, or low blood pressure. Certain antibiotics, antifungals, and HIV medicines can raise sildenafil levels in the body. Your physician may need to change the dose or choose another treatment.
Do not combine sildenafil with tadalafil, vardenafil, another sildenafil product, or other erection treatments unless your physician gives specific instructions. Also ask about grapefruit, alcohol, supplements, and nonprescription sexual enhancement products.
Share a complete list of prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and supplements with your physician and pharmacist. Update that list whenever something changes. Do not stop a needed medicine on your own to make room for sildenafil; ask your physician to review the combination.
