What side effects should I watch for with Sildenafil 50 mg?
Short answer
Sildenafil can cause headache, flushing, indigestion, stuffy nose, dizziness, or vision changes. Get urgent medical help for an erection lasting more than four hours, chest pain, fainting, or sudden vision or hearing loss. Tell your physician about bothersome effects, and do not change the prescribed dose on your own.
Common sildenafil side effects include headache, flushing, indigestion, a stuffy nose, and dizziness. Some people notice blurred vision, sensitivity to light, or a blue tint to their vision. Contact your prescribing physician if a side effect is bothersome, persists, or makes it hard to use the medicine safely.
An erection lasting more than four hours is a medical emergency, even if it is not painful. Get urgent care to avoid permanent injury. Stop taking sildenafil and seek urgent medical help for sudden vision loss or sudden hearing changes or loss, especially with ringing in the ears or dizziness.
Call 911 for chest pain, fainting, severe trouble breathing, or signs of a serious allergic reaction. If chest pain happens during sex, stop activity. Do not take nitroglycerin or other nitrates after sildenafil. Tell emergency staff when you took your last dose.
Do not drive if you feel dizzy or your vision is affected. Your physician can review side effects and decide whether a dose change or another treatment is appropriate.
