What if I miss a dose or delay collecting the Medication response (PGx) test?

Short answer

There is no missed dose with the Medication response (PGx) test because it is a one-time cheek swab, not a medicine. If you delay collection, check the kit label for expiration and return limits. Follow your prescribing physician’s directions, and keep taking your regular medicines as prescribed.

The Medication response (PGx) test does not have a daily dosing schedule. If you forget to collect the sample, you do not need to catch up or use extra swabs. Check the kit label for an expiration date and any deadline for collecting or returning a sample. Follow the prescribing physician’s directions if a collection date was given.

If the kit is expired, damaged, or missing supplies, ask for instructions before using it. If you already collected a sample but forgot to mail it, check the return and storage instructions. Contact the service listed in the kit if you are unsure whether the sample can still be processed. Do not assume an old sample is suitable.

A delay in testing is not a reason to stop, skip, or double any regular medicine. If you missed a dose of a medicine, use that medicine’s label or contact your pharmacist or prescriber. Instructions for a missed medication dose are separate from the instructions for this test.
