How do I collect a sample for the Medication response (PGx) test?
Short answer
Use the Medication response (PGx) test to swab the inside of your cheek, then mail the sample back as directed. Follow the kit label and prescribing physician’s instructions. Check any rules about eating, drinking, or mouth care before collection, and do not guess about collection times or swab counts.
The Medication response (PGx) test uses a sample collected from inside your cheek. Read all kit instructions before opening the collection supplies. Check the label for any steps needed before swabbing, including any waiting period after food, drinks, smoking, or mouth care. Do not assume instructions from another brand of test apply to this kit.
Wash your hands and prepare a clean space. Avoid touching the collection tip. Swab the inside of your cheek using the method, number of swabs, and collection time listed on the label. Follow the prescribing physician’s directions as well. If any step is unclear, ask for help before you begin rather than guessing or adding extra steps.
Complete any required labels or forms, then seal and pack the sample as instructed. Mail it back using the return directions provided. If you drop a swab, damage the kit, or leave out a required step, contact the service listed in the kit. Ask whether a new sample is needed before sending it.
