How should I store my compounded Acne formula gel?
Short answer
Store Acne formula exactly as directed on your pharmacy label. Compounded gels may have specific temperature and light limits, so do not assume refrigeration is needed. Keep the container closed and out of reach of children and pets. Do not use it past the pharmacy’s labeled beyond-use date.
The storage instructions on your dispensing pharmacy’s label are the best guide for your Acne formula. Check them when your order arrives. Do not refrigerate or freeze the gel unless the label says to do so. If the temperature instructions are missing or unclear, contact the dispensing pharmacy before choosing a storage spot.
Keep the container tightly closed, away from children and pets. Avoid leaving it in a parked car, on a sunny windowsill, or near a heat source. A bathroom may expose medicine to heat and moisture. Keep the gel in its original container so the directions and beyond-use date stay with it.
Compounded medications are prepared by a licensed pharmacy for one patient and are not FDA-approved. Their labeled beyond-use date matters. Do not keep using the gel after that date, even if some remains. Ask the pharmacist what to do if the gel changes color, texture, or smell, or arrives after possible heat exposure. Appearance alone cannot confirm that a medicine is suitable to use.
