Weight loss · FAQ
How do I switch from another weight loss treatment to Oral weight kit?
Short answer
A licensed physician in your state must review your current treatment before you switch to Oral weight kit. Do not overlap medicines or stop your current prescription on your own. Your plan may require a taper, a waiting period, or other safety steps based on the medicine and your health history.
Start by telling your physician the name, dose, and schedule of your current weight loss treatment. Include the date of your last dose and any side effects. Share all other medicines too, including treatments for depression, seizures, pain, and opioid use disorder. These details help the physician decide whether Oral weight kit is appropriate.
There is no single switching schedule for everyone. Some medicines require a gradual dose reduction. Others may require a waiting period or closer monitoring. If your current treatment contains bupropion, naltrexone, or topiramate, your physician must account for those ingredients to avoid duplicate dosing.
Do not start the kit while continuing another weight loss medicine unless your physician has clearly approved the combination. Naltrexone also requires special planning when opioids are involved. Do not stop methadone, buprenorphine, or prescribed pain medicine just to start this kit without medical guidance.
Ask for written instructions that state when to stop the old treatment, when to start the new one, and when to follow up. Your pharmacy label and prescriber’s directions set your dose.
