How do I switch from another treatment to Performance anxiety tablets?
Short answer
Switch to Performance anxiety propranolol only with a plan from your prescribing physician. Do not stop your current medicine, overlap treatments, or change doses on your own. A licensed physician in your state will review your current treatment and health history to decide whether propranolol is appropriate.
There is no single switching plan that is safe for everyone. A licensed physician in your state must review your current medicine, dose, frequency, and reason for taking it. Tell them when you last took it and whether you have had side effects or symptoms after missed doses.
Some anxiety medicines need a gradual dose reduction. Others may interact with propranolol if the treatments overlap. Do not stop an antidepressant, sedative, or heart medicine suddenly, and do not combine it with this product without clear instructions. Your physician will decide whether a taper, overlap, or waiting period is needed.
Propranolol mainly targets physical signs of anxiety and may not meet the same needs as your current treatment. Results vary. Its use for performance anxiety is off-label. Ask how the switch fits into your broader care plan, including therapy if appropriate. Follow the new prescription label, and contact your physician or pharmacist if the old and new directions seem to conflict.
