Can the Hormone panel cause side effects?
Short answer
The Hormone panel does not cause medication side effects because it is a test. Collection risks depend on the kit’s method. If it involves a skin puncture, brief pain, bruising, bleeding, or faintness may occur. Tell your physician about bleeding problems or blood-thinning medicines before you collect.
The panel measures markers in a sample; it does not add hormones to your body. Any physical risks come from the collection method rather than from the hormone measurements themselves. Read the kit label to understand which method is used and what safety steps it requires.
If the kit requires a skin puncture, possible problems include soreness, bruising, bleeding, or feeling lightheaded. Infection is also possible when skin is punctured. Use the supplies only as directed, and do not reuse single-use collection items. Tell your physician if you have a bleeding disorder, take a blood thinner, or have fainted during sample collection before.
Stop collection if you feel unwell or cannot safely follow the instructions. Seek prompt medical help for bleeding that will not stop, severe pain, or signs of infection such as spreading redness or fever. Call 911 for a medical emergency. Ask your physician whether a supervised lab collection would be safer if home collection concerns you.
