Can I stop using the Medication response (PGx) test once I have ordered it?
Short answer
The Medication response (PGx) test is a one-time collection, so there is no medicine to taper or ongoing test dose to stop. If you choose not to proceed, contact Verra about your order status and options. Do not stop any prescribed medicine because you canceled testing or received a report.
The Medication response (PGx) test is a one-time purchase, not a medicine or refill plan. You do not need to taper it or follow a stopping schedule. If you no longer want to collect a sample, contact Verra to discuss your order status. Ask what options apply before opening or returning the kit.
If you have already mailed your sample, contact Verra promptly to ask whether processing can be stopped. Do not assume it can be canceled once the lab has begun work. Ask separately about any order cancellation or refund rules. The visit fee is non-refundable; that rule does not establish whether a test order can be refunded.
Stopping the testing process is different from stopping treatment. Keep taking medicines as prescribed unless your treating clinician gives you a new plan. A PGx report alone is not a reason to stop a medicine suddenly. Some medicines need a gradual dose change or close follow-up. If you are worried about a side effect, contact your clinician rather than waiting for testing.
