What should I do if I miss an Anxiety & depression dose?
Short answer
If you miss your prescribed Anxiety & depression dose, follow the missed-dose instructions on your label. In general, take it when you remember unless it is almost time for the next dose. Skip the missed dose in that case. Never double up; ask your pharmacist if the timing is unclear.
Follow the missed-dose instructions from your prescribing physician and pharmacy label. For sertraline or escitalopram, the general advice is to take a missed dose when you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your usual schedule.
Do not take two doses at once or add an extra tablet to make up for one you missed. If you cannot tell whether it is too close to your next dose, ask your pharmacist. Give them the medication name, strength, usual dosing time, and the time of your last dose.
If you miss several doses, contact your prescribing physician before restarting or changing your schedule. Gaps in treatment can cause symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, anxiety, or sleep changes. A daily reminder or a medication log may help you keep track. If you think you took too much, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222. Call 911 for severe symptoms, such as a seizure or trouble breathing.
