How should I store my Anxiety & depression tablets?

Short answer

Store your Anxiety & depression tablets as the pharmacy label directs, usually at room temperature away from heat and moisture. Keep them in their labeled container, tightly closed and out of reach of children and pets. Ask the pharmacy about tablets exposed to extreme temperatures or moisture before using them.

Follow the storage instructions on your pharmacy label for sertraline or escitalopram. Tablets are generally stored at room temperature, away from excess heat, light, and moisture. Keep the container tightly closed. A bathroom cabinet or a hot car is not a good storage spot.

Keep your medication in its labeled container so you can check the name, strength, directions, and expiration date. Store it out of sight and reach of children and pets, ideally in a locked place. Do not share tablets with anyone, even if they have similar symptoms or take the same medication.

If a shipment has been exposed to extreme heat or cold, or if tablets look damaged or wet, ask the dispensing pharmacy whether they can still be used. Appearance alone cannot confirm that a medicine is safe. Do not use it past the date on the label without pharmacy guidance. Ask about a medication take-back program for unused tablets. Do not flush them unless disposal instructions specifically say to do so.
