What should I do if I miss a semaglutide dose?
Short answer
The next step after a missed semaglutide dose depends on your exact product and how long it has been since the scheduled dose. Check your prescription instructions or contact your pharmacist. Do not double a dose. After several missed doses, ask your physician whether you need a lower restart dose.
Missed-dose directions differ between semaglutide products. They also depend on when your next dose is due. Use the instructions that came with your exact prescription. If you cannot find them or are unsure which product you have, contact the pharmacy or prescribing team before injecting.
Do not take two doses together or take extra medicine to make up for a missed dose. Do not copy missed-dose advice written for a different brand or formulation. If your prescription comes in a vial, the concentration and measuring directions still apply when you resume treatment.
After several missed doses, restarting at your previous dose may cause significant stomach side effects. A licensed physician in your state should decide whether a lower restart dose or another change is appropriate. Tell them the date and amount of your last dose, how many doses you missed, and whether you had side effects.
If you took too much or injected doses too close together, contact Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 right away. Seek emergency care for severe symptoms.
