How should I store and handle compounded NAD+?
Short answer
Store compounded NAD+ exactly as the dispensing pharmacy directs. Temperature, light protection, and the usable time after opening can differ by product. Check the beyond-use date and keep it away from children and pets. If a shipment arrives damaged or outside its stated storage conditions, ask the pharmacy before using it.
There is no single storage rule that applies to every compounded NAD+ product. Follow the label and the instructions from the dispensing pharmacy. Ask whether your medication needs refrigeration, protection from light, or any special handling after opening. Do not freeze it unless the pharmacy specifically directs you to do so.
Check the beyond-use date before each use. This is the date after which the compounded product should not be used. Opening or puncturing a container may shorten its usable time. Ask the pharmacist to explain which date applies, and write down the opening date if instructed.
Do not use a container with a broken seal, a leak, or an unexpected change in appearance. If a package arrives warm when refrigeration was required, set it aside and call the pharmacy. Appearance alone cannot confirm that a product is safe.
Wash your hands before handling medication. Follow the pharmacy's clean-use instructions, never share supplies, and place used needles in a sharps container. Compounded medications are prepared by a licensed pharmacy for one patient and are not FDA-approved.
