How do I use Dry mouth rinse correctly?
Short answer
Use Dry mouth rinse exactly as your prescribing physician and label direct. Typical directions are to measure 10 mL and swish for 1 minute, up to 3 times daily. Spit out the rinse rather than swallowing it, unless your prescriber specifically directs otherwise. Ask about timing with meals and brushing.
Start by reading the pharmacy label each time you begin a new bottle. Your prescribing physician’s directions and the label take priority over general instructions. Typical use is 10 mL swished for 1 minute, up to 3 times daily. Measure the amount with a marked dosing tool. Do not drink the rinse or use it as a beverage.
Move the liquid gently around your mouth, then spit it out unless your prescriber specifically gives different instructions. Do not assume you should gargle or hold the rinse longer. Ask the pharmacist whether you should shake the bottle and whether there is a wait time before eating, drinking, brushing, or using another mouth product. These details can depend on the prepared formula.
Keep the measuring tool clean and avoid touching the bottle opening to your mouth. Never share your prescription. If you cannot safely swish and spit, tell your prescriber before use. Ask for a demonstration if any part of the directions is unclear.
