How do I switch from another hair-loss treatment to Topical Finasteride + Minoxidil?
Short answer
Ask your prescribing physician for a switching plan before starting Topical Finasteride + Minoxidil. Share the name, strength, dose, and last use of your current treatment. Do not overlap oral or topical finasteride or minoxidil on your own. Your physician will decide whether to stop, space, or replace other products.
There is no single switching schedule that fits every hair-loss treatment. A licensed physician in your state will review what you currently use and decide whether Topical Finasteride + Minoxidil is appropriate. Include prescription treatments, store-bought minoxidil, supplements, medicated shampoos, and scalp procedures in your history.
Share each product’s name, strength, dose, frequency, and last use. Tell your physician about any irritation, dizziness, sexual side effects, or mood changes. If you stopped a previous medicine because of side effects, a topical formula does not automatically remove that risk.
Do not overlap this solution with another finasteride or minoxidil product unless your physician specifically directs you to. Ask for clear instructions about when to stop the old treatment and when to begin the new one. Follow the new pharmacy label rather than carrying over the dose from a different product.
Hair coverage or shedding may change during a switch. Results vary. Arrange follow-up so your physician can review your response and side effects. Compounded medications are prepared by a licensed pharmacy for one patient and are not FDA-approved.
