Can mouth sores be evaluated through a Verra Health telehealth visit?
Short answer
A Verra Health telehealth visit can help assess mouth sores, but some sores require an in-person medical or dental exam. A licensed physician in your state reviews your symptoms and decides whether treatment is appropriate. Clear photos and a full health history can help guide that decision; a prescription is not guaranteed.
During a Verra Health visit, a licensed physician in your state reviews your symptoms and health history. Be ready to describe where the sores are, when they began, how often they return, and whether you have fever or trouble eating. Clear photos may help show the area, though they cannot replace every part of an exam.
Share all medicines, allergies, health conditions, and any recent dental work. Mention pregnancy, breastfeeding, chemotherapy, or medicines that weaken your immune system. The physician decides whether remote treatment is appropriate. They may recommend a prescription, supportive care, or an in-person medical or dental evaluation. A prescription is not guaranteed.
Telehealth cannot feel a lump, adjust braces or dentures, or take a tissue sample. Persistent or unusual sores may need those services. Verra is available in all 50 states and DC; some states or medications require a video visit. Do not wait for telehealth if you have trouble breathing, cannot swallow saliva, or have rapidly worsening swelling.
