Can melasma be evaluated through a Verra Health online visit?
Short answer
Melasma may be evaluated through an online or video visit, but not every patch can be diagnosed remotely. A licensed physician in your state reviews your history and decides whether treatment is appropriate. Clear photos may help. Unusual, changing, painful, or bleeding spots may need an in-person skin exam instead.
During a Verra Health visit, a licensed physician in your state reviews your symptoms, medical history, medicines, and skin care products. They decide whether your concerns can be handled through telehealth and whether a prescription is appropriate. A visit does not guarantee a diagnosis or medication.
Be ready to describe when the patches started, where they appear, and whether sunlight or hormone changes seem to affect them. Share past treatments and any irritation they caused. Mention pregnancy, plans for pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Clear photos in natural light, without makeup or filters, may help the review.
Some skin changes need an in-person exam. A single changing spot, an uneven raised area, bleeding, pain, or an open sore should not simply be treated as melasma. The physician may recommend a dermatologist to check for another cause.
Verra is available in all 50 states and DC. Some states or medications require a video visit. If a compounded medication is prescribed, it is prepared by a licensed pharmacy for one patient and is not FDA-approved.
