Weight loss · FAQ
Which symptoms during weight loss treatment need urgent care?
Short answer
Severe or lasting belly pain, repeated vomiting, fainting, or signs of dehydration need prompt medical attention during weight loss treatment. Trouble breathing or swelling of the face or throat is an emergency; call 911. Risks depend on the medicine, so review the warning signs for every item in your plan.
Do not wait for a routine online message if you have a medical emergency. Call 911 for trouble breathing, swelling of your face or throat, or loss of consciousness. These can be signs of a serious reaction. Online weight loss care is not a replacement for emergency care.
With GLP-1 medicines, severe or lasting belly pain, especially pain that spreads to the back, needs urgent evaluation. Repeated vomiting, very little urine, or severe dizziness can signal dehydration. Upper belly pain with fever or yellow skin also needs prompt care. Low blood sugar is a concern when some weight loss treatments are used with certain diabetes medicines.
An Oral weight kit may carry different risks based on its ingredients. Ask your physician which symptoms require stopping a medicine and which require immediate care. Tell the care team about any new or worsening symptoms before a dose increase. Do not take an extra dose, repeat a vomited dose, or change your schedule without instructions.
