Hormones · FAQ
What results can I reasonably expect from hormone treatment?
Short answer
Hormone treatment may help symptoms linked to a specific hormone problem, but it is not a general treatment for aging, fatigue, or weight gain. Results vary. Your physician will help set goals based on your diagnosis and prescription. Better hormone levels do not always mean better symptoms.
Reasonable goals depend on the cause of your symptoms. For confirmed testosterone deficiency, treatment may help some symptoms related to low testosterone. Menopause treatment may help selected menopause symptoms, while vaginal estrogen may help local dryness and discomfort. Results vary. No option can promise a particular change in energy, mood, sexual function, or appearance.
Enclomiphene may change testosterone levels in selected patients, but that does not guarantee symptom relief or fertility outcomes. Results vary. Menopause cream also cannot be judged by its name alone. Its ingredients, dose, and how it is used determine its intended role.
Fatigue, sleep problems, low sexual desire, and weight changes can have many causes. Hormones may not address the main cause. Your physician may recommend another evaluation or treatment instead of, or alongside, hormone care.
Agree on clear goals before starting. Keep notes on symptoms and side effects, and attend recommended follow-ups. Your physician will weigh any benefit against risk when deciding whether to continue or change treatment.
