How is anxiety evaluated during a telehealth visit?
Short answer
An anxiety evaluation reviews your symptoms, how long they have lasted, and how they affect daily life. A licensed physician in your state also checks your health history, medications, and safety needs. They decide whether telehealth treatment is appropriate or whether you need in-person care or specialist support.
An anxiety evaluation starts with understanding what you are experiencing. You may be asked about worry, panic symptoms, sleep, mood, and activities you avoid. The physician will also want to know when symptoms began and how they affect work, school, relationships, or daily tasks.
Share all prescription medicines, over-the-counter products, vitamins, and supplements you take. Mention caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, cannabis, and other substances. Also share prior mental health treatment, medical conditions, and any history of unusually high energy or needing very little sleep. These details can affect which treatments are safe.
Questionnaires may help organize your symptoms, but they do not replace a clinical review. A physician may recommend an in-person exam, testing, therapy, or specialist care if your needs cannot be safely addressed online.
At Verra, a licensed physician in your state decides whether treatment is appropriate. Some states or medications require a video visit. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 rather than waiting for a routine visit.
