Skin · FAQ
How do the custom prescription skin formulas work?
Short answer
How a custom skin formula works depends on its active ingredients and your diagnosis. Ingredients may target clogged pores, inflammation, uneven pigment, or changes linked to skin aging. Results vary. A licensed physician in your state chooses treatment when appropriate, and your prescription label explains how to use it.
Custom anti-aging cream, Acne formula, Dark spot cream, and Rosacea cream address different concerns. Their names alone do not tell you which ingredients they contain or how those ingredients work. Ask for the ingredient list and directions for your own prescription rather than relying on instructions for another product.
Depending on the formula, ingredients may help prevent clogged pores, affect pigment production, reduce inflammation, or support skin renewal. Results vary. Some ingredients can address more than one concern, but that does not make every formula suitable for every skin type. A licensed physician in your state decides which approach is appropriate after reviewing your history.
Compounded medications are prepared by a licensed pharmacy for one patient and are not FDA-approved. Use only the amount and schedule on your label. Applying more does not reliably speed progress and may increase side effects. Ask the physician how the prescription fits with your cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen, and other products before starting a new routine.
