How do I switch from another fluoride treatment to High-fluoride Rx rinse?
Short answer
Have your prescribing physician or dentist review your current treatment before switching to High-fluoride Rx rinse. Share the product name, fluoride strength, and schedule. Do not use your old product's dose for this rinse or overlap prescription fluoride treatments unless instructed. Follow the new prescription label and your prescriber's directions.
Fluoride products come in different strengths and forms, including rinses, toothpastes, gels, and dental-office treatments. Their directions are not interchangeable. Before switching, give your prescriber the name and strength of your current product, how often you use it, and the reason you want to change. A photo of the label may help.
A licensed physician in your state decides whether High-fluoride Rx rinse is appropriate through Verra. Ask which products to stop, which to continue, and when to begin the new rinse. Do not assume that a daily rinse schedule applies to sodium fluoride 0.2%. Your prescribing physician and the new label set the dose and frequency.
Also tell your care team about recent fluoride varnish, prescription toothpaste, fluoride supplements, or a past reaction to dental products. Do not overlap prescription treatments without clear instructions. Continue your basic dental care unless your dentist advises otherwise. If the new directions conflict with an existing dental plan, ask the clinicians to clarify before making the switch.
