Can Topical Dutasteride + Minoxidil interact with my other medicines or scalp products?
Short answer
Yes. Topical Dutasteride + Minoxidil may interact with other treatments, and scalp products may change irritation or absorption. Tell your physician about all medicines, supplements, and hair products you use. Do not combine it with oral or topical minoxidil, finasteride, dutasteride, or other scalp medicines unless your physician approves.
Have your prescribing physician review everything you take or put on your scalp before starting this solution. Include prescriptions, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, supplements, and hair products. Some medicine can enter the bloodstream after scalp use, so a topical treatment still needs an interaction review.
Be sure to mention blood pressure medicines, oral minoxidil, finasteride, dutasteride, and any other hair loss treatment. These combinations are not always ruled out, but they need a physician’s review. Certain medicines can also affect how the body breaks down dutasteride. Do not decide on your own that a combination is safe because one product is applied to the skin.
Scalp medicines, harsh products, and procedures such as microneedling may increase irritation or change absorption. Ask your physician before combining them with this solution. Your pharmacy can also check the ingredients in the compounded base. Follow any instructions about spacing products apart, and report dizziness, scalp burning, or other new symptoms after adding a treatment.
