Can sildenafil and tadalafil both be taken every day for erectile dysfunction?
Short answer
Tadalafil has a lower-dose daily option for erectile dysfunction. Sildenafil is usually prescribed as needed before sex, not as a standard daily ED treatment. Your prescribed schedule matters. Do not turn an as-needed prescription into a daily routine or add extra doses without your prescriber’s approval.
Tadalafil can be prescribed either as needed or at a lower dose taken each day. Daily tadalafil is taken at about the same time every day, whether or not you plan to have sex. It may reduce the need to time a dose around sex. Results vary.
Sildenafil is usually prescribed as needed for erectile dysfunction. It also has other medical uses with different dosing schedules, but those schedules should not be used as instructions for treating ED. Always follow the directions for your own prescription.
Daily tadalafil does not mean you should take an extra dose before sex. You should not add sildenafil or another ED medicine unless your prescriber has specifically directed you to do so. Combining treatments can raise the risk of low blood pressure and other side effects.
A licensed physician in your state decides whether daily treatment is appropriate. That decision includes your kidney and liver health, other medicines, side effects, and how often you expect to use treatment.
