Dental · FAQ
Am I eligible for prescription dental rinses, gels, or topicals?
Short answer
Eligibility depends on your mouth symptoms, health history, age, and current medicines. A licensed dentist in your state decides whether a dental prescription is appropriate. Some concerns need an in-person exam or dental procedure instead. Share any allergies, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and trouble swallowing before treatment is considered.
Prescription dental care is not a fit for every mouth problem. A licensed dentist in your state reviews your symptoms, medical history, dental history, and current medicines. They decide whether a rinse, gel, troche, or other treatment is appropriate. Completing a visit does not guarantee a prescription.
Describe where the problem is, how long it has lasted, and whether you have pain, sores, bleeding, swelling, or dry mouth. Mention allergies and any past reactions to mouth products. Also share whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have trouble swallowing, or have heart, lung, or eye conditions. Age and the ability to follow directions safely can affect treatment choices.
An online review cannot fully assess every tooth or gum problem. You may need an in-person exam, X-rays, or a dental procedure before treatment can be chosen. Severe swelling, fever with dental pain, or a suspected abscess needs prompt in-person care. Trouble breathing or swallowing is an emergency and should not wait for an online visit.
